Wider Opportunities (WCIV) Teacher

The delivery of whole class instrumental/vocal tuition is an exciting challenge for us all. These highly targeted interactive resources support you as the teacher to inspire and enable pupils learning.

There are a broad range of resources including songs, quizzes, pieces, pictures and videos. Many of the pieces are written by Wider Opportunity teachers, so are tried and tested, and the new SMILE technology allows you to control the tempo and the backing track mix and the animation, giving you a flexible tool to use in your teaching.

These resources can free you up to provide more ‘hands on’ help to individual children and help to engage and stimulate children (and you!) in fresh and exciting ways.

All the resources from the website can be downloaded to your computer’s hard drive, a disk or a memory stick and taken into school. You can also print out the music and save the backing tracks as mp3 files so they can be used even if you do not have access to an interactive white board or a computer and projector. The resources can be used in the lessons, and also left with the class teacher to revisit, and so consolidate learning during the week.

Pupils of the 21st Century live in a busy digital and technologic world so it is important that we provide a music education that it is relevant to their experiences. These resources support that provision and offer new and effective ways to engage children, encouraging them to play and practice more.

Everyone loves using Sefton Schools Music Service Interactive - but don’t take our word for it, why not read what teachers, pupils and Music Services have to say.

Access to these resources is normally by annual subscription to the Music Service. However, as part of our ongoing program of support for music education in Sefton  we are making this invaluable resource available to you until 31st March 2010 absolutely FREE of charge.

"A very interactive experience for both pupils and teachers. Lots of engaging, informative resources for learning and playing music as well as having fun with games and videos."
