Instrumental Teacher

As a valued member of the Sefton Schools Music Service instrumental team we’re trying to support you in looking at new and effective ways to engage children and encourage them to play and practise more.

Today, practising their instrument competes alongside any number of other activities for children’s attention at home. You only need to look at the wall to wall marketing for a Nintendo DS to see what we’re up against. We know that once students get to a point where they can truly enjoy playing and join in ensemble activities, they can derive great benefit and enjoyment. One of our key jobs is to help students through that first year of learning and with Sefton Schools Music Service Interactive we are providing you with a core of pieces and activities that engage students in new and exciting ways.

Our new and nationally acclaimed SMILE resources not only allow you to control the tempo, but also the backing track mix and the animation, giving you a flexible tool to use in your teaching. Even if you can’t use the interactive resources in your lessons, you and your students can still benefit as moving forward, students will be able to access these resources at home. Experience shows that children will be much more likely to practise if they can use their computer as their practice partner and the benefit for you is that they will turn up for their lesson much better prepared.
